1. Do what you love: Because I do weddings I often meet happy couples. The last three started their relationship after meeting doing what they love. One met bowling; another played darts; and the other met playing Bingo. Now, each of these couples can enjoy doing their respective activities together for many years to come… and I can tease them for it at their wedding.
2. Joke about it: Being able to joke about being single can be fun and help reduce and shame or anxiety you may have towards it. This increased confidence will make you more attractive. It’ll also help get the idea in people’s heads that you’re on the market. Of course, there’s a good and bad way to joke about things. I knew two young men who were in wheelchairs who both joked about their condition. One was funny and the second made others feel awkward. If you can’t joke about something in a fun way change how you joke or just don’t do it.
3. Ask Friends: Sometimes friends don’t think to set others up while some people like me (I can be honest), try too hard. Asking friends if they know anyone can help guarantee a possible connection with one of their colleagues doesn’t get missed.
4. Make Friends: This is important for two main reasons: It means you’re good at meeting new people, which is important for when meeting Mr or Miss Right, and it increases your network of connections who can potentially set you up.
5. Join New Groups: If you’re single it’s time to shake up your social connections. It’s time you tried some new groups where you’ll meet new people. More importantly, it’ll keep you from moping alone or to your friends who will eventually get tired of hearing about it.
6. Be Open to Opportunities: Sometimes we don’t meet people because we’re just not open to opportunities. It’s like the movie Yes Man. We need to start saying ‘yes’ to new and different things. You never know what’ll happen. If nothing else, you’ll have a story to share later on dates.
7. Join a Dating Site: I suggest this with great caution. Don’t join something like Tinder if you want to find a soul mate. Pick a reputable site that fits you. If you’re a Christian try a site like ChristianCafe.com, or if you have a hobby, find a site that increases the likelihood of meeting the person who likes your interests. For instance, there are even a bunch of geek dating sites like Geek 2 Geek, SoulGeek.com, Geekmemore, and Geek Dating.

Pray: I prayed for years to get my first girlfriend, but I didn’t have my first real grown up relationship until I was 21. After that five year relationship ended I prayed for a new girlfriend and I met her the next day. Is this foolproof? No, but it can work, especially if you’re in the right spot for a relationship like I was the second time. The first time I was actually being protected by not dating… or I guess the girls were protected from me. The post several weeks on Erotic Handholding helps explain why I’d say that.
May this week be one that is full of love.
