God has sent Trump to save America… is not what I’m trying to say; although, that would be a fun way to think: “Hey Ma, we gone be good agane.” But as I’ve written before, there is good in all things. For instance, Hilary Clinton is an amazing example of perseverance. How many times has her dream of power been shot down, but she’s kept going? In this way she is an inspiration. Unfortunately, unlike her husband who charmed his way into the oval office… and into other things… she lacks the warmth to earn her spot in history. On the plus side, she did, however, demonstrate a fashion sense and personality type that doesn’t leave men begging Hugh Hefner to get her as a Playboy centerfold… my apologies if you find that misogynistic, but I’m writing about Trump, so it feels appropriate. Unlike other President hopefuls, Trump caused so much controversy it led to many people threatening to leave the country if he won, and yet, he still has good things about him. Please know, I am not a political junky, and my goal is simply to point out that there is good in all things including a man who has upset many. So here’s a list of why he’s a blessing:
- He Never Ages: Yes, I’m starting off with a bit of joke because other presidents go into the office and end up with white hair and looking like grandpas. Trump doesn’t age like Tommy Lee Jones and Paul Rudd; I’m pretty sure Trump has looked 50 since he was 10, and will when he’s done.
- He Gives Unattractive Men Hope: Like Hilary, Trump won’t be making “People’s 50 Sexiest People” list, but he’s still able to attract beautiful women… it may have something to do with his money, but I’m not positive… and yes, I’m done being silly. I just wanted to be equal in my discriminatory comments since I made one about Hilary earlier.
- Personal Strength: Say what you will about Trump, he can handle it. He amazes me with how vicious people can be about him and he keeps fighting on. I think the vast majority of people would have crumbled with the kind of hatred he’s encountered, especially if they needed to hire a massive team of security to stand outside of their home or offices like he does.
- Passion: Trump has a passion for his beliefs that I wish I had. I’m so afraid of upsetting people I’ve forgotten how to be passionate about something I believe in. Even my love of God is downplayed in a washed out version as I try to be non-threatening, which is really sad.
- No Dead Bodies: Watching TV shows like Smallville and every crime show out there, I’ve been taught that rich people like Trump are supposed to have a list of scandals including dead bodies somewhere. Trump is yet to be accused of this, and if it hasn’t yet, he must be free of such underhanded deeds… which is almost disappointing because that means TV has lied to me.
- He’s Unfiltered: Being unfiltered has gotten him into trouble, but isn’t refreshing to have someone not afraid of having an opinion of his own in politics? He has broken the mold of sucking up to the public and shown that being politician fake isn’t the only way to win.
- Business Experience: Unlike many pampered politicians, Trump has had a lifetime of experience developing his brand where he continually challenged himself and his company to grow. When’s the last time the government’s been praised for being smart with their money, not being wasteful, and pushing to grow? My hope is he will be able to reduce government waste and make it more like a business that wants to be successful.
- He Know When to Cut His Losses: Some people have made a big deal of his failed ventures in business, but as the one leadership book I read, you need to know when to cut your losses before they become disastrous. Not all good ideas make it, and not all ideas are as good as we think they’ll be until we try them. At least he’s willing to try things.
- He Knows How to Hire Good People: Trump has built a behemoth of a brand and it’s largely because he knows how to hire good people. He knows he can’t do it alone, and seeks wise counsel. What can make him a great president? Getting help from wise people like Obama like he claims he will.
- His Ego: People get worried about Trump’s ego, and that may be warranted (I haven’t said don’t pray for him; in fact, we should be praying for all of the world leaders), but his ego will push him to want to be a great President. He won’t want to be remembered as Bush Jr. is remembered. He’s too prideful for that. His ego alone will push him to want to do great things. Throw in his desire to make money, and he’ll be even more motivated. After all, his money isn’t wrapped up in oil and war like other politicians. His money is more connected to America doing well and having money to spend on his brand.
At this point I should reiterate that I don’t have any political leaning, but I want to point out that even in this event many have claimed is a travesty, Trump being elected has good in it because there is good in all things. Sometimes we just need to look for it. And, personally, I won’t be surprised to hear that a lot of his brash comments were more about stirring the media than pushing his real thoughts. Before his political pursuits he clearly demonstrated his awareness of the importance for making headlines and portraying a character rather than being his true self. Celebrities are simply images made by the media. Regardless, there is good in all things and may God lead Trump to his better self than his darker.
